Air-fried calamari rings are a delicious dish that can be served either as a main course or as an appetizer. Air frying enhances the sea flavor of the squid, ensuring a perfect crispiness without retaining too much oil, unlike traditional frying. A touch of freshly squeezed lemon adds a hint of freshness that cleanses and delights the palate.

 

 

 

Preparation

Clean the squid

Clean the squid under running water and, pulling from the head, scoop out all the insides of the entrails. Remove the latter with a knife, thus detaching them from the head, from which remove the part containing the eyes and central tooth. This will leave only the tentacles joined together by a small part of the remaining head. Go on to clean the body by making a slight vertical incision in the skin, which should then be slipped off so as to obtain a smooth, white surface

Cut the squid into ringsCut the squid into rings

Cut the cleaned squid into rings about an inch thick on a cutting board, and after drying proceed to flour them.

Flour the squid

The best method to flour them neither too much nor too little is to put them in a small bag containing flour and then sift them through a sieve.

Place the calamari in the oven

Place the squid thus obtained in the basket of the fryer and spray them with oil with the sprayer.

Cook the calamari in the air fryer

Cook them at 180° for 12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to obtain an even browning.

Serve the calamari

Serve them on a plate with paper towels and 4 lemon slices.
